Puppy Health Guarantee
Updated/Active beginning July 1, 2024
Crockett Doodles guarantees your puppy to be in good health, to the best of our knowledge, on the day you take ownership of your puppy. This means that we will take reasonable measures to ensure your puppy is healthy on your Adoption Day. By accepting the puppy, you also accept the physical and financial responsibilities of ownership of a living being.
All of our puppies come with a 1-Year Health Guarantee against congenital/genetic issues as outlined in this Guarantee up to 100% of the purchase price of the puppy for the first year of ownership.
Our full 12-Year Health Guarantee is contingent on the owner of the puppy purchasing and maintaining Pet Insurance for the puppy for at least the first 6 months after taking ownership of the puppy and using one of our recommended pet foods. Crockett Doodles’ financial obligation is null and void if the owner does not maintain Pet Insurance for the puppy the first 6 months after taking ownership of the puppy, but partial credit towards another puppy may be given if you continue to feed your puppy one of our recommended foods discussed below. Proof of insurance will be required to redeem this 12-year Health Guarantee. Crockett Doodles will pay deductibles and copay costs up to the price of your puppy as stated below in this document.
We have partnered with and highly recommend purchasing Pet Insurance through either Fetch or Trupanion, both of which can be activated on Adoption Day and offer a special promotion to our customers. If you choose to go with another major certified Pet Insurance plan, be sure that it activates on the day you take ownership of your puppy. Some insurance plans do not activate until 30 days after adoption.
7-Day Buyer’s Responsibility
It is the Buyer’s responsibility to have an appointment at your licensed veterinarian’s office for a well-check within 7 days of taking ownership of your puppy. Contact Crockett Doodles if your licensed veterinarian diagnoses any health issues at your puppy’s first well-check visit.
If the puppy is diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian to be suffering from a life-threatening or debilitating disease within the first 7 days after taking ownership of the puppy, the Buyer can return the puppy for a refund of the purchase price of the puppy. (Life-threatening/debilitating illness or disease does not include common communicable puppy issues such as ear mites, giardia, coccidia, etc.) If the puppy is not examined by a licensed veterinarian within this 7-day period, the return/refund policy will be void.
If your puppy has an emergency health concern within the first 7 days before your scheduled licensed veterinarian visit, please call our Client Experience Team at (864) 453-8997 immediately and they will help you make the decision on the best course of action for your puppy. Keep in mind that our guarantee is only up to the purchase price of your puppy, and we are not obligated to pay veterinary bills exceeding the purchase price of your puppy within the limits of this Health Guarantee. Crockett Doodles is not responsible for non-medical expenses (e.g. prescribed food, kennels, toys, beds, carpets, cleaning), or other medical or non-medical expenses such as personal time spent or other animals or people affected by contact with the puppy.
It is the Buyer’s responsibility to protect the puppy from any contact with communicable diseases by not exposing it to public places and by keeping up to date on immunizations. Keeping your puppy away from public parks, beaches, stores, unvaccinated animals, etc., until the puppy has completed all immunizations (typically around 4 months of age) is required for our Health Guarantee.
Common Adoption Issues
It is common for puppies to experience stress when transitioning to their new home. This may lower their immune systems temporarily and make it more difficult to fight common communicable issues like giardia and coccidia. If your puppy experiences loose stools or diarrhea but is not lethargic and does not have other health issues, please be sure to mention this to your licensed veterinarian during your first veterinarian-check.
Common puppy parasites or communicable issues like giardia, coccidia, hookworms, etc. are easily treatable. If at your first veterinarian-check (which must take place within 7 days after Adoption Day) your puppy is diagnosed with a communicable issue or parasite, Crockett Doodles will be glad to help cover the cost of the first round of medication for your puppy up to $100. We cannot be responsible for on-going communicable or parasite issues after 7 days as we have no control over your puppy’s environment in/at your home. Most breeders do not cover any costs for treatments related to these common puppy issues.
12-Year Health Guarantee
Crockett Doodles guarantees the puppy is free of hereditary defects to the best of our knowledge. All our puppies come with the option of a 12-year guarantee against life-threatening congenital/genetic defects and debilitating disease which is activated when these two qualifications are met:
- 1. You purchase and maintain Pet Insurance for your puppy for at least the first 6 months of ownership.
- 2. You purchase and regularly feed one of our recommended dog food brands throughout ownership of your dog.
Because your dog’s diet is crucial to their overall well-being and longevity, we encourage you to feed your dog either of the dog foods we recommend – TLC Whole Life or Health Extension – for the life of your dog. We believe in the quality of these foods so much that we’ve incentivized them in our Health Guarantee. We know each dog is unique and there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all dog food, so we are thrilled to recommend a variety of sizes, flavors and preparations with TLC or Health Extension.
With Pet Insurance & Using One of our Preferred Dog Foods
After the first year of ownership, with proof of Pet Insurance for at least the first 6 months of puppy ownership and regular/ongoing purchase through the dog food company’s website using the Crockett Doodles code which provides both a discount and the proof of purchase required (either TLC Whole Life or Health Extension dog food), Crockett Doodles will pay copays/deductibles not covered by your insurance for actual incurred expenses for health issues covered by our Health Guarantee as follows:
During the first year of puppy ownership, we will issue a credit of 100% of the purchase price towards the purchase of another puppy OR give a cash reimbursement up to 100% of your puppy’s purchase price.
During years 2-5 of puppy ownership, we will issue a credit of 75% of the purchase price towards the purchase of another puppy OR we will give a cash reimbursement of up to 50% of your puppy’s purchase price.
During years 6-8 of puppy ownership, we will issue a credit of 50% of the purchase price towards the purchase of another puppy OR will give a cash reimbursement up to 25% of your puppy’s purchase price.
During years 9-12 of puppy ownership, we will issue a credit of 25% of the purchase price towards the purchase of another puppy (no cash reimbursement).
Any credit issued will remain valid for up to 2 years from issue date.
Without Pet Insurance but if Using One of our Preferred Dog Foods
Without Pet Insurance, our full Health Guarantee is null and void and no cash reimbursements will be given in any case after the first year of ownership. However, with proof of regular/ongoing purchase through the dog food company’s website using the Crockett Doodles code which provides both a discount and the proof of purchase required (either TLC Whole Life or Health Extension dog food), in the event of life-threatening or debilitating congenital diseases or death, Crockett Doodles will issue credit good for up to 2 years towards a new Crockett Doodles puppy as follows:
During the first year of puppy ownership, we will give a 100% (of the original purchase price of the puppy) credit towards the purchase of a new puppy OR up to 100% of the purchase price in cash reimbursement for actual medical expenses incurred for issues covered by this Health Guarantee.
During years 2-5 of puppy ownership, we will give a 50% (of the original purchase price of the puppy) credit towards the purchase of a new puppy.
During years 6-8 of puppy ownership, we will give a 25% (of the original purchase price of the puppy) credit towards the purchase of a new puppy.
During years 9-12 of puppy ownership, we will give a 10% (of the original purchase price of the puppy) credit towards the purchase of a new puppy.
Any credit issued will remain valid for up to 2 years from issue date.
What is Covered?
Loss of Quality of Life: Puppy is diagnosed by two licensed veterinarians (from different practices) with a qualifying health issue (congenital/genetic issue). Qualifying health issues would include loss of quality of life due to an appearance of the symptoms of a debilitating disease within the time limits of this Health Guarantee (e.g., hip dysplasia, deafness, kidney disease). Dated records from two licensed veterinarians will be required when evaluating any claims/requests.
Loss of Life: Puppy is diagnosed by two licensed veterinarians (from different practices) with a terminal inherited congenital/genetic disease or if the puppy dies within the first year of ownership (or first 12 years of puppy ownership if you qualify for our 12-year Health Guarantee). Qualifying health issues would include the loss of life due to a congenital/genetic disease within the limits of this Health Guarantee (e.g., some cancers, some organ failures)
Sudden Death: If your puppy dies suddenly within the first year of ownership (or in the first 12 years of puppy ownership if you qualify for our 12-year Health Guarantee), a necropsy (at owner’s expense) confirming genetic cause will be required to qualify for a replacement puppy. We will not offer credit or financial reimbursement if, as revealed by the necropsy, environmental toxins (acorns, poisonous plants, pesticides, human food toxic to dogs, etc.) contributed to the puppy’s death.
Other: Some conditions may have both genetic and environmental causes and may not be life-threatening or debilitating because they can be treated/managed to ensure quality of life for the puppy. In these cases, we will cover up to 50% of the purchase price for actual incurred expenses during the first year of ownership. These conditions may include but are not limited to the following:
Seizures/Epilepsy
Addison’s Disease
Auto-immune disorders
Please Note: Contact us with your puppy’s health concerns before proceeding with extensive medical treatment. Crockett Doodles is under no obligation to pay for veterinary bills for your puppy outside the guidelines of our Health Guarantee.
Proof of qualifying health issues may include the following items/documents to be considered for a cash reimbursement or credit towards a puppy in the event of a major health issue:
- Corroborative written diagnosis from two licensed veterinarians
- Lab testing results and X-rays
- OFA results for hip dysplasia (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals)
- Spay/Neuter certificate dated before the puppy is 12 months of age
- Proper identification of the dog including microchip number, size, weight, color, sex
- Up-to-date vaccination, heartworm, and licensed veterinarian care records to prove consistent care
- Food purchase records of either TLC or Health Extension (Food MUST be purchased through their company website using Crockett Doodles code which provides proof of purchase for 12-year Health Guarantee activation)
- Proof of Pet Insurance for at least the first 6 months of puppy ownership

- Grade 1 and Grade 2 luxating patellas (these often resolve on their own)
- Pre- or Post-operative rehabilitation or therapies like water therapy, massage, etc.

Many of these can be eliminated or alleviated through environmental or diet changes over which we have no control.
Pet Insurance
Our Health Guarantee is not a replacement for Pet Insurance, which we highly recommend. Experiencing the full benefits of our 12-year Health Guarantee is contingent on your purchase of Pet Insurance for your puppy for at least the first 6 months of ownership of the puppy and feeding one of our recommended foods regularly. Our Health Guarantee does not cover the costs of problems related to accidents. For covered illness/disease, this Health Guarantee does not cover costs in excess of the purchase price of the puppy (not including services, products, taxes, etc.).
Our Health Guarantee takes a secondary position to your insurance policy. We will pay deductibles and copayments for costs we cover within the limits of this Health Guarantee.
After the first year of ownership to take advantage of our 12-year Health Guarantee and make a request for cash reimbursement or credit under this Health Guarantee, you must provide Crockett Doodles with proof of Pet Insurance coverage on this puppy for at least the first 6 months of ownership from either Fetch or Trupanion, or another major reputable licensed pet insurance company. If your Pet Insurance is cancelled before the first 6 months of puppy ownership is complete, the cash reimbursement options of this Health Guarantee will be null and void after the first year of puppy ownership.
After the first year of ownership, if you cannot provide proof of Pet Insurance coverage, but can provide proof (through purchase using our code) that you regularly feed your puppy one of our preferred foods, a percentage of credit towards another puppy from Crockett Doodles may be given as outlined in this Health Guarantee, but no cash reimbursement will be given.
While we make our best-guess estimates, results in hybrid dogs can be difficult to predict with accuracy so we cannot guarantee final weight, height, coat type, color, amount of shedding, etc.
Results of canine genetic testing can vary extensively, with puppies within the same litter from the same parents testing differently. Due to vague results and general inaccuracies as stated by canine DNA testing companies, we are not able to guarantee canine DNA test results.
Spay/Neuter Contract
If your dog has not been spayed or neutered by 12 months old, this entire guarantee will be null and void. It is the Buyer’s responsibility to send us an electronic copy of the spay/neuter invoice from a licensed veterinarian when the procedure is complete. Proper licensed veterinarian documentation will be required in the event you want to redeem our Health Guarantee.
Purchase Price
The limits of the Health Guarantee are related to the purchase price of the puppy only. The “purchase price” of a puppy is the initial price paid. It does not include the price of training, delivery charges, taxes, toys, treats, or other products purchased at the time of adoption.
Final Notes
Proof of Pet Insurance must be provided and must show coverage from the date owner takes possession of the puppy.
The puppy owner has 30 days after the initial vet visit addressing a medical issue to notify Crockett Doodles and to submit required veterinarian notes, diagnoses, receipts, etc. to claim this Health Guarantee.
The idea of “puppy ownership” refers to you taking possession of your puppy on Adoption Day from Crockett Doodles.
“Preferred Dog Foods” refers specifically to TLC or Health Extension dog food brands.
Every facet of this Health Guarantee is null and void if the puppy owner, family members of the puppy owner or friends of the puppy owner engage in public defamation, libel, slander, etc. against Crockett Doodles, its family network, or its affiliates.
Our puppies are bred with the intention of being only family pets, and not as breeding, show, or service dogs. Therefore, we do not provide codes or information necessary to register for various breed organizations. Many of our puppies have gone on to be trained to become excellent service or companion dogs, but we do not guarantee a dog or breed to be used as a companion/service dog.
In regard to occasional necessary updates to our Health Guarantee, the owner is limited to the terms and conditions of the version of the Health Guarantee under which the puppy was purchased from the date puppy ownership began.
Our Health Guarantee is to the original owner of the puppy and is not transferable to a new owner. If any Crockett Doodles’ dog is resold or gifted to another home at any point, the spay/neuter contract is still active, but our Health Guarantee is no longer in effect.
